Tshortages.ca tracks testosterone shortages in Canada and explains what they mean in real-world use.
It brings together official Health Canada data with clear, patient-focused explanations of testosterone product availability, switching products, and treatment considerations during supply disruptions.
Background
Tshortages.ca grew out of my own frustration navigating testosterone shortages in Canada.
I began tracking shortages in 2012 after multiple disruptions over several years. What I initially assumed was a rare issue turned out to be fairly common. Testosterone is widely prescribed, but shortages happen more often than most patients expect.
Data Sources
The site collects data directly from Health Canada’s Health Product Shortages (HPS) database via API access. This is a government-run resource that lists all reported drug shortages and discontinuations in Canada.
While the database is comprehensive, it can be difficult to navigate, especially on mobile devices. Tshortages.ca presents the same official data in a simplified, patient-friendly format.
Future Roadmap
Planned improvements include a French-language version of the site and enhanced data visualization for historical shortage trends.
